Research and Knowledge Exchange
Academy staff and doctoral students are engaged in a very wide range of research projects, from technology transfer and industry consultancy to practice-led artistic research, policy consultancy, and publications, exhibitions and events. The Academy exists in order to maximise the opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
We have designed our provision to be responsive, flexible and innovative and this approach carries over into our taught postgraduate programmes, doctoral research studentships and work with external partners. The aim of the Academy is to be the ‘partner of choice’ for professional communities. We want to build meaningful academic collaborations and expert networks with other organisations and institutions in the pursuit of research and production excellence.
We run a year-round programme of events and seminars, principally on our campuses and at CCA Glasgow. In 2010 – 11, our MashingUp symposium series returns to CCA with a monthly event. We also support Ayrtime, a festival of events bringing eclectic and cutting edge cultural practitioners to Ayr. Major events such as Creative Choices and Digital Futures bring together our research community with undergraduate students and professional organisations. We convene the Greater Glasgow Games Group which offers a networking forum for the Games industry and education within Glasgow and the west of Scotland.
Individual staff regularly present work at conferences and symposia across the UK and internationally.
