Growing our international presence is important for the Skillset Media Academy. Many of our students come from overseas and we have exchange agreements in place with key institutions in Europe and Canada. We have international research and production collaborations including work in media and cultural research at major events and festivals, such as the Olympic Games and the Glasgow Film Festival. We work with partners in arts/media education, e-learning, practice-led research and creative pedagogy through the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) and other European networks, including the Games Based Learning Conference. Staff members regularly present papers at international conferences and we are developing a number of initiatives in relation to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Scottish Centre for Island Studies works closely with the Global Islands Network, a unique resource for cultural, economic, social and geographic research for small island communities.
